KW Race Report

Here's the report on the M-2 race report in Kitchener Waterloo.
The race pretty much unfolded the way it does almost every year. A few half-hearted attacks, a few crashes... but otherwise not much of a race.  The M-2 race went at the same time as the Junior men and the S1/2 women.  Our group caught the junior men and lapped the women (twice), so there was some mayhem around that.  Greg rode a smart race (staying mostly in front third of the pack) and mostly managed to avoid getting too mixed up in the chaos.
At one point about mid-way through the race, I got caught behind a nasty crash and had to come to a dead stop.
Greg and the other folks who were ahead of the crash got a nice gap, saw the opportunity and really picked up the pace.  I was one of only about four riders from behind the crash who managed to chase back on.
For the next few laps, I just sat in and recovered.  Last lap- I put in a bit of an effort to pull Greg up to the front...just in time for our group to catch the S1/2 women. In the process of riding around the women, Greg lost a few wheels and hit the corner around 15th wheel...which is pretty much where he finished.   I rolled in about 10 seconds off the back of the main group.   Happy to get through that course with all my skin still intact.
