Like most kids, Mark enjoyed the unparalleled freedom and range afforded by his bicycle. After graduating from university and landing his first full time job, Mark spent his first profit sharing cheque on a road bike and there was no turning back. The next step was participating in the Midweek learn to race series where he learned to ride in a pack. After a few years of training and racing as an associate of the Pavan team, Mark was graciously accepted onto Team PFR. Mark now finds himself in pursuit of the perfect Zen like balance of family, career, and cycling which will soon result in the first of many Master 1 podium finishes. |

At the end of his first full season of road racing, Andy was solidly hooked. And since he was actually starting to see the front 3rd of the Master 2 peloton a switch to M1 may be in order. No point in getting comfortable. |

Rhys Spencer2006 Road2nd 2006 Good Friday road race 5th 2006 Canadian National MA TT 14th 2006 Canadian National MA Road race 7th 2006 Niagara O-Cup 2005 Road1st 2005 King city MA 2nd 2005 Grand Prix of Mosport O-Cup 4th 2005 Conestoga Road Race Triathlon2 * sub 10 hour ironman’s: Canada 2003, UK 2005 2 * Ontario Amateur Long Course Triathlete of the year: 2003, 2004 2 * Age Group Provincial Champion Olympic Distance: 2006, 2007 Hawaii Ironman Finisher Profile:Like so many riders, Rhys' cycling seeds were sown early. In his case it was watching Greg LeMond win his Tours De France and appreciating a sport that was something different from the typical North American sports. (different, but just as punishing as rugby, which was his sport of choice at the time). Fast forward through the obligatory "party years", after quitting smoking and devoting himself to a healthy lifestyle next up for Rhys was trying his hand at competition. Completing Ironman Hawaii on his carbon-fibre Trek (shhhhhhhhh) was quite a contrast to riding around on his steel Bianchi (a bike which was the envy of his Italian neighbors and died under the wheels of a car) back in grade 10, but both are memories that Rhys will keep with him for a long time. The future holds a lot more racing for Rhys, both on the road and in triathlon. On ironman Rhys says: "Nothing compares to finishing an Ironman and especially Hawaii; the sensation of running down Alli Drive, you feel like a champion". On road racing Rhys says: “The absolute down right cross-eyed suffering that is road racing is beyond pain. Ironman is mental suffering but road racing is sure physical suffering. Get on my wheel, 2010 is going to be fun!” |
Andrew Stewart20051st Kelso Halloween Cross (Master B) Profile:After 6 years in road cycling, Andrew is still waiting for that perfect break to get away with. Besides that one strange day in 2005 when everyone else seemed to be falling off their bikes, Andrew measures his success on the road by how long he can hang in before getting dropped and how many of his teammates he finishes ahead of. In a previous life Andrew enjoyed triathlons, marathons, mtb racing and the occasional adventure race. Now he says he enjoys road racing, but everyone knows he's lying. He continues to race mostly to justify all the bikes he owns. |

After a few successful seasons in mountain bike and triathlon he wrongly expected to do well road racing. Now, even with adjustments in training for 2007 he is expecting to get pummeled in M1. |
